Securing with stainless steel strap is common, here is what you need to know:
- If you can see the ocean, you need a high grade stainless, minimum 301-304 stainless steel strap. Generally the higher the series, the more corrosion resistance.
- You can secure it by punching or drilling a hole(s) and bolting it to your lumber/concrete footing.
- Many communities have engineering departments that will tell you exactly what strap size and thickness (1 1/4″ x .030″ is most common) to use. Which fasteners, and the number of stainless steel straps to use.
